The
Brightleaf Hoedown

Every September over 20,000 people come to the
Historic Town Square in Yanceyville for the Bright
Leaf Hoedown. Bring the family, stay a while, and
enjoy all the excitement of the day long activities
at this 27th Annual Bright Leaf

The Hoedown kicks off at 9:00 am Saturday with the
Bartlett Yancey High School Band. As always, there
will be plenty of BBQ, Stew and a variety of foods
provided by over 20 local non-profit organizations.
Over 80 crafters register for booths. Admission and
entertainment is free for the event. We also have
kid’s country which includes games and rides for the
kids. Earl Collins will be in charge of the Horse
Shoe Tournament again, which brings players in from
Caswell and other areas. At 9:45 there will be a
mock Tobacco Auction. Farm Olympics for kids ages
3-8 at 1:00 pm. The Bright Leaf Hoedown will have a
car show sponsored by the Anderson Vol. Fire
Department. The car show parade will begin at 4:00
pm. Our entertainment for the day includes Senior
Clef Singers, Greenhouse River Band, Called Out, and
Margaret’s Dance School. For the Finale and street
dance which will begin at 6:30pm “The Part-Time
Party-Time Band will be performing. So come and
enjoy a day filled with fun and activities.
Pork Jam 2008 BBQ Festival

Welcome Family, friends, and
neighbors to the 7th annual Pork Jam BBQ festival.
Pork Jam 2008 kicks off at
10am and will conclude at 7pm. This one day event
benefits the Pelham Volunteer Fire Department.
Children will enjoy the
inflatable moonwalks, slides and pony rides. Adults can
try their luck in the 2nd annual horseshoe tournament,
take a look at antique engines on display, or browse art
and craft vendors from around the local area. This year
we are pleased to announce that Michael Ken will
headline our event. Ken has opened for several well
known country music groups and singers. He has played at
Nashville Crossroads and will be touring overseas this
summer (2008). Other bands include Gods Desert Rose,
Reminsce, and Borderline.

Providence SpringFling
April 25th & 26th, 2009 in

Held the last Saturday and
Sunday in April, the Providence VFD SpringFling always
delivers lots of fun, food and entertainment. Saturday
begins with a parade and concludes with a street dance The
hours are 10:00 am to 9:30 pm on Saturday and Noon to 6:00
