I.T. Support Specialist


Starting Salary: $37,741.00

General Statement of Position:


The Information Technology Support Specialist is responsible for:

The resolution of daily issues encountered and reported via the ticket system, imaging & deploying pcs, performing audits and inventory tracking, documenting resolutions, creating policies and procedures, making recommendations, planning, design and implementation of information systems and technologies projects in support of the administration and services conducted by the county.



Duties:

· Provide Help Desk / Field Support for tasks as needed, or escalated.

· Provide leadership, guidance, and training to Technical Support position.

· Troubleshoot technology related issues as they relate to desktop computers, servers, network infrastructure and security.

· Assist with the installation and support of various software components utilized throughout the course of county operations.

· Perform minor to intermediate network and A/V cabling.

· Be able to work with outsourced technology contractors and vendors providing technical guidance within an ever changing environment.

· Assist with the planning, design, implementation, and technical support of information systems, networks, and departmental applications.

· Assist in the development of systems standards (hardware, software, network systems) policies and procedures.

· Assist with the development and implementation of information systems disaster recovery plans.

· Performs other duties as required by operational specifications, requirements, and/or direction


Required Knowledge:

· Competent skills using and troubleshooting computer information systems, software applications and related technology infrastructure.

· Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with various units and subunits of government, County officials, County employees, and the general public.

· Ability to work independently and in group settings to achieve goals.

· Ability to make recommendations and advise leadership as to IT related challenges and direction.

· Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Ability to create appropriate documentation for IT related process and procedures

· Ability to define problems and collect relevant information required to provide solutions and recommendations to achieve positive results.


Requirements:

· A valid State driver’s license.

· AAS or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or institute of higher learning with a major in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields is preferred

· Experience working with information technology systems, networking and software including but not limited to MS Windows, MS Server, CLI, SQL, Firewall appliances and security (4 years of experience preferred).


Physical requirements include:


o Lifting and/or moving items weighing up to approximately 15 pounds.

o Able to work in confined spaces: climbing, crawling, and stooping.

o The physical agility to move about freely.

o The visual acuity to be able to read, write and comprehend handwritten and typed material.

o The ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees.

o Use of a ladder is sometimes required.

o Employment is contingent on the individual passing pre-employment screenings.
