Senior Center - Assistant Coordinator

Starting Range: $33,487.00 - $ 40,663.00

Full Time Position with Benefits


 General Statement of Duties

This position works closely with the Director and is the primary point of contact for the Caswell Senior Center with daily responsibility of overall general duties.  The position requires the employee obtains and applies comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all Caswell County Senior Services multi-level programs and services offered.  The employee will interact with seniors on a daily basis responding to individual questions as well as the general public.   An employee in this position provides technical and programmatic support to the senior center. The employee will recruit and train volunteers to answer phones and perform other duties.  Work is supervised by the Director and is reviewed through conferences, review of records and reports, observation, and accomplishments.


             

Duties and Responsibilities


·         Assist the Director with planning, developing, and implementing, diverse programs for the senior center using state SCOPE Certification requirements for guidance.

·         Interact with seniors daily and provide resource information and referrals for services available to older adults and caregivers in the community.

·         Assist with state certification requirements.

·         Maintains compliance with senior center operations

·         Assist the Director with promotion and marketing of the senior center to the community.

·         Produce monthly reports, calendars and newsletter

·         Enter and manage invoices for payment into MUNIS

·         Handle concerns and/or complaints from clients and refer complex issues to the Director.

·         Compile statistical data on programs and activities.

·         Performs data entry into ARMS by the deadline as deemed appropriate.

·         Maintains open communication with all staff in order to ensure that programs are managed appropriately. 

·         Perform administrative duties associated with center such as (but not limited to) tracks client registrations, maintains class sign in sheets and provide monthly utilization reports; send thank you letters for donations; operates various office equipment;

·         Coordinates trips for senior activities



Additional Job Duties


·         Assist with evening and weekend programs or building use

·         Ensures proper room set up for programs or events held at the center

·         Perform related duties as required.

 

Recruitment and Selection Guidelines:


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


·         Strong organization and time management skills.

·         Ability to operate computer system and input data accurately. (Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.)

·         Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.

·         Knowledge of the principles, practices, and requirements for senior centers and services for older adults.

·         Knowledge of current social, economic, and health issues of older adults.

·         Knowledge of community services and programs for older adults.

·         Skill in assessing the needs of older adult.

·         Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in working with clients and implementing program policies.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, older adults, families, collaborative partners, and the general public.

 

Physical requirements


·         Must be able to physically perform the basic operational functions of kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, talking, and hearing.

·         Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.

·         Must possess the visual acuity to work with data, figures, and computers.

·         Must be physically capable of performing basic physical exercise. 


Education and Experience


 High school diploma with communication/leadership experience, some experience in clerical, planning and implementing activities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Some college experience preferred.

 

Special Requirements


·         Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

·         Must obtain certification in first aid and CPR.
