Senior Center Driver

Job Type: Part-time 20 hours per week

Rate of pay: $16.00 per hour


General Statement of Duties


This is a new position with the senior center. This position will work closely with our Nutrition Coordinator as well as the Program Assistant. The position requires the employee to have a valid driver’s license as well as a sense of direction and ability to read maps or follow GPS directions. This position will be traveling across the county on various task. This position requires the employee to work 5 days a week and be willing to assist at the center with other duties as needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities


·         Set up new routes for delivery of frozen meals to those who cannot pick up themselves or have trouble finding someone to pick for them regularly.

·         Work with staff to create a Meals on Wheels route in the Casville area of Caswell County.

·         Work with Program Assistant to learn all 10 routes for Meals on Wheels to be a back-up when a volunteer is unable to run the route.

·         Help in kitchen to pack meals when shorthanded.

·         Be able to lift at least 20-30 lbs.

·         Pick up Meals on Wheels bags at drop off locations when Program Assistant is unable to do so.

·         Be able to work with senior adults. Have patience and compassion.

·         Work well with the public.


Essential Job Duties Include:

  • Assist Meal site staff as needed with daily program operation, packaging meals, kitchen clean-up, preparing lunch bags, storing food supplies, and labeling packages

  • Using agency vehicle, delivers meals directly to participants according to predetermined routes

  • Provide friendly delivery of meals and report back to agency any changes or concerns reported or observed

  • Provide feedback from participants on any needed changes to schedule or meals

  • Rewarding position making a difference in the lives of others


Special Requirements

·         Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
