Clerk to the Board
Contact the Clerk to the Board regarding any agenda item to be presented to the Board for any upcoming County Commissioners meeting.

The Clerk to the Board is officially responsible for the County seal and the retention of official records.  These include minutes, ordinance books, records of county-appointed boards and committees, resolutions, contracts, agreements, and leases.  The clerk is responsible for the legal advertisements and must be familiar with the General Statutes in order to assure the validity of actions taken by the Board of Commissioners.

Because many of the legal powers of the County are exercised by the Board of Commissioners, the minutes of the Board meetings are the official record of what it does and therefore this function is one of the Clerk’s most important duties.  Subsequently, the Clerk is required to attend all Board of Commissioner meetings.

One of the most important services that the Clerk provides to the Board is assistance with preparation for meetings.  The Clerk is involved in preparing the tentative agenda for Board meetings and in compiling background information for the Board’s agenda packet.  He or she may also arrange for the recordings of meetings and may set up other equipment and the meeting room.
In reference to County Ordinances, a list of the County Ordinances are listed on the left hand side of this page.  Once you find the ordinance you are looking for go under the Documents section to locate that particular ordinance.
