Commissioners Hire New County Manager

The Caswell County Board of Commissioners voted to hire Melissa Williamson as the County Manager, effective August 4, 2026. The Commissioners approved the employment agreement during an open session.

Williamson has been a dedicated employee of Caswell County for nearly three decades, most recently serving as the Interim County Manager. Previously, she served as the County's Deputy Manager, where she managed CATS, broadband, ARPA, and opioid grant funding while supporting other county departments. Her diverse leadership roles have provided her with extensive knowledge of local government, financial management, personnel administration, grant management, and economic development.

The Commissioners based their decision on Williamson's background, experience, and deep understanding of Caswell County government. During her tenure as Interim Manager, she successfully navigated a difficult budget process, closing a shortfall of over $3 million and balancing the budget without a tax increase.

"Melissa has a proven track record of leading with integrity, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to excellent customer service."

Williamson holds a bachelor’s degree in business and an associate’s degree in paralegal technology, and she is a graduate of the UNC School of Government County Administration Program.
