DETAILS & FORMS

What We Do

Caswell County Section (8) Housing provides rental assistance to low-income individuals and families in the private rental market through the Housing Assistance Payments Program.

Rental Voucher Holders select a unit from the private rental market. Rental assistance makes market rate housing affordable. Program participants normally pay no more than 30% of monthly adjusted income towards rent and utilities.  The Housing Assistance Payment subsidizes the balance of the rent to the property owner.

Caswell County Section 8 Housing does NOT offer Emergency Housing Assistance.

Attention Applicants:

CCS8 honors Local Preferences. These include:

1. Residency Preference

2. Elderly, Disabled, or Handicapped Preference: Head of Household, Co-Head, or Spouse is 62 or older; or considered disabled according to HUD guidelines.

3. Veteran Preference: Head of Household, Co-Head, or Spouse is a Military Veteran.

Please note that the waiting list times vary. We do not give out waiting list numbers nor do we have an exact time frame to give you. You should always keep your contact information updated so that when your name is at the top of the waiting list you will receive the notification. Failure to respond to the letters or notifications by the deadline date will cause your application to be dropped from the waiting list.

Attention Participants:

Please be sure to remember the "5" day rule. Income is money or any other gain received for the purpose of an individual's family's well-being. It must be reported in writing to the office within 5 days of hire date and/or receiving of income. Anytime the household has a change in income or household composition the family MUST submit a "Household Change Reporting Packet". The packet must be completed entirely and submitted to the office with ALL verifying documentation when requesting an adjustment of rent. Failure to provide all information will result in a delay of processing. All information must be re-verified during each re-exam or interim adjustment. This includes updated verifications for all income, and household composition changes. Once HAP Payments have been processed (25th each month) corrections will not be made for the prior month due to a delay of turning in paperwork or verifying information. The deadline for submitting all request and verifying documentation is the 24th of each month at 12pm.

Attention Landlords:

Caswell County Section 8 Housing would like to offer you the chance to take advantage of our landlord incentives and add your property to our Section 8 Program. We offer quick turnaround times on the lease up, Direct Deposit Payment, Courtesy Inspections, one on one assistance, and qualified pre-screened tenants.

Recently the demand for housing has amplified and our agency is trying to acquire new property to add to our vacant landlord listing. With every year that goes by we do our best to serve more low-income families in our county with decent, safe, and sanitary housing. We need your help to locate housing for the participants who have been qualified for our program. Should you have any property or know someone that may have property that would like to add to our Section 8 program please give us a call. We appreciate all your support!
