Effective May 1st, 2023 Caswell County Section 8 Housing will close its waiting list to all applicants EXCEPT ones who qualify for the following local preferences:

1. Residency

2. Elderly, Disabled, or Handicapped

3. Veterans
 

Applications are available during regular business hours or find them located outside the main doors at all times. To submit the application, please bring it into the office, drop it in the drop box, or mail it in. DO NOT EMAIL OR FAX THE APPLICATION!

What We Do

Caswell County Section (8) Housing provides rental assistance to low-income individuals and families in the private rental market through the Housing Assistance Payments Program.

Rental Voucher Holders select a unit from the private rental market. Rental assistance makes market rate housing affordable. Program participants normally pay no more than 30% of monthly adjusted income towards rent and utilities.  The Housing Assistance Payment subsidizes the balance of the rent to the property owner.

 

Attention Applicants: ***WAITING LIST WILL CLOSE MAY 1ST FOR ALL APPLICANTS EXCEPT ONES WHO QULIFY FOR #1, #2, AND/OR #4 BELOW).

CCS8 honors Local Preferences. These include:

1. Residency Preference: Caswell County Resident or work in Caswell County at the time of the application. 

2. Elderly, Disabled, or Handicapped Preference: Head of Household, Co-Head, or Spouse is 62 or older; or considered disabled according to HUD guidelines.

3. Working Families Preference: Head of Household, Co-Head, or Spouse is employed.

4. Veteran Preference: Head of Household, Co-Head, or Spouse is a Military Veteran. 

ANYONE CAN APPLY HOWEVER, FAMILIES WITH LOCAL PREFERENCES WILL BE PULLED BEFORE OTHER APPLICANTS! Please note that the waiting list times vary. We do not give out waiting list numbers nor do we have an exact time frame to give you. You should always keep your contact information updated so that when your name is at the top of the waiting list you will receive the notification. Failure to respond to the letters or notifications by the deadline date will cause your application to be dropped from the waiting list.  

Attention Participants:

Please be sure to remember the "5" day rule. Income is money or any other gain received for the purpose of an individual's family's well-being. It must be reported in writing to the office within 5 days of hire date and/or receiving of income.

Attention Landlords:

 

Caswell County Section 8 Housing would like to offer you the chance to take advantage of our landlord incentives and add your property to our Section 8 Program. We offer quick turnaround times on the lease up, Direct Deposit Payment, Courtesy Inspections, one on one assistance, and qualified Pre-Screened tenants.

Recently the demand for housing has amplified and our agency is trying to acquire new property to add to our vacant landlord listing. With every year that goes by we do our best to serve more low-income families in our county with decent, safe, and sanitary housing. We need your help to locate housing for the participants who have been qualified for our program. Should you have any property or know someone that may have property that would like to add to our Section 8 program please give us a call. We appreciate all your support!

Portability:

If you are interested in Porting to CCS8 please have your Housing Specialist send over your information to be reviewed. Documentation should be sent to CCS8 via:

Once we have received the information you will be contacted to schedule your Portability Interview. 


If you are a CCS8 Participant and wish to port out to another agency, you will need to contact the office to verify you are eligible to Port Out and set an appointment to have the proper paperwork completed.
