Salary: $41, 057 - $52,231.00 per year

 

 

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK

Performs complex administrative, supervisory, and program management work directing the operations, services, and strategic initiatives of the Caswell County Senior Center. The Senior Center Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating programs that enhance the well-being, independence, and quality of life for older adults in the community.

 

Work involves supervision of staff, budget administration, program development, compliance with federal and state regulations, and collaboration with community partners. The Director ensures that services align with the requirements of the Older Americans Act, North Carolina Aging Services standards, and County policies.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Administration & Leadership:

·         Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive range of senior services and activities.

·         Ensures programs meet the needs of older adults including health, nutrition, recreation, and social engagement.

·         Establishes program goals and ensures compliance with all applicable laws.

·         Plans, coordinates, and oversees day trips and extended multi-day travel opportunities for senior participants, including out-of-state and international destinations.

·         Required to attend and supervise all trips to ensure participant safety, program quality, and overall experience.

 

Supervision & Personnel Management:

·         Supervises, trains, evaluates, and disciplines staff.

·         Recruits and manages volunteers.

·         Promotes a positive workplace environment.

 

Financial Management:

·         Develops and administers the Senior Center budget.

·         Monitors expenditures and ensures compliance.

·         Prepares reports and seeks grant funding.

 

 

Community Engagement & Outreach:

·         Serves as liaison with community organizations.

·         Builds partnerships and promotes services.

·         Represents the County at meetings and events.

 

 

Compliance & Reporting:

·         Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

·         Prepares required reports and ensures proper documentation.

 

Facility & Operations Management:

·         Oversees daily operations of the facility.

·         Ensures safety, cleanliness, and accessibility.

·         Manages facility rentals, including scheduling, coordination, and ensuring adequate staffing coverage for events and activities held at the Senior Center.

 

Participant Services:

·         Ensures high-quality service delivery.

·         Resolves participant concerns professionally.

·         Participation in scheduled trips is an essential function of the position and a condition of employment.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

·         Knowledge of aging services and applicable laws.

·         Strong leadership and communication skills.

·         Budget and program management ability.

·         Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·         Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Human Services, Gerontology, Public Administration, Social Work, or equivalent practical experience.

·         2 + years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Supervisory experience preferred.

·         Valid NC Driver’s License.
