Telecommunicator – Caswell County 9-1-1- Part Time

Description of Work:

Responsible for all communications, including but not limited to, all incoming calls, radio, computer and teletype messages, dispatching emergency units where and when appropriate, front desk operations and other assigned tasks pursuant to the department’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic office machines

  • Ability to deal courteously with public and responders

  • Ability to operate under stressful situations

  • Must speak clearly

  • Ability to work various shifts including weekends and holidays

  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts

  • Ability to multi-task


Training and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from High School or GED

  • One year experience in emergency services communications or one year experience

in a related field

  • Will be required to complete telecommunicator certification within one year

  • DCI and EMD certifications preferred but not required

  • If not DCI certified, will be required to obtain certification within one year

  • EMD certification will be required within 120 days
